Contributions to research project

Our group started on this project by comparing our ideas for our reader response essay. We presented our ideas to our group mates and compared ideas while trying to decide which idea would work best for this technical report. Nadiah came up with an idea on mall cleaning robots and how they could be improved. Originally, we thought this might be a good idea. Upon further discussion, we realised that this idea would be difficult to research on as we need to have some basic knowledge on app development and cloud database

We decided to change our idea and went back to the brainstorming stage. We discussed on world issues as well as problems people faced. We then came up with an idea to manage crowd control in restrooms around malls and concert venues in Singapore.

I contributed to the tech report by writing about the importance of a comprehensive smart queue management in restrooms around Singapore. I started by writing about the importance of crowd control in general as a way to prevent injuries that occur from having a large sum of people in a small space.

I also researched and wrote on various sensors technologies and how they work to detect occupancy levels in buildings. I found various journal papers on different sensor types as well as papers on the basics of how certain sensor technologies work in detecting occupancy levels. This allowed me to understand the basics of sensor technologies and allowed me to make a judgement on what sensor type would be best for our idea.

Moving onto the presentation, i presented the introduction to our idea. I went in depth on the public concerns and issues faced with crowded restrooms and explained any current existing solutions to combat this issue. I then went on to present the final summary on our idea. I went to explain about how restroom crowds were an ongoing issue and how this prompted the team to think of a effective solution to this issue.
